Who should take MUET?
MUET is compulsory for all STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia) and matriculation students, as well as diploma and pre-university students who wish to pursue a first degree program in local universities.

There is no entry requirement for MUET. For STPM and matriculation candidates, MUET will automatically be a required subject for all students to take, but it will not be shown in your result slip. There will be a separate result slip for MUET.

Although certain countries do accept MUET, it is usually accepted in Malaysia and Singapore.

It is highly encouraged that you find out about the minimum grade for MUET in the degree course(s) which you are planning to apply for. This will increase your eligibility in getting the course(s) that you are applying for.

For example, courses like Law, Pharmacy and Medicine require a minimum of Band 5 in order for applicants to qualify themselves a place in university.

Based on the Budget 2015, start from next year(2015 year), the minimum requirement to pursue a study at IPTA is band 2 in MUET.

Study in Literauture and Social Science: band 2
Study in Science, technology, engineering and maths: band 3
Study in Medicine and Law: band 4

Upon graduation, students must at least pull up one band (band 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 and even 4 to 5). The government also advice IPTS to do so right now.
