About three decades ago, Finland is experiencing hardship in terms of education, and lo and behold, they created an entirely new education system. Consistently ranked as #1 in the world, what are the secrets of this seemingly unorthodox methods? In Malaysia, which it’s education system is modelled from the UK, centres on competition and standardized tests. In Finland, the only standardized test they will take is during when they’re 16. Being a teacher in Finland is also more reputable and highly-paid compared to doctors and engineers. There is also no private school, everything is centralized and centered on equality. The reformists emphasized on the interests of the school children and not giving them pressure. There is no competition, no boarding schools that require a certain pre-requisite to enter. How cool is it? I think we should all learn from this system.
