UMP is a technical university focusing on engineering and technology, started its operation in 2002. Years passing by, UMP has now expand its operation into two campuses, located in Pekan and Gambang. Pekan campus is the administrative center of UMP and can accommodate up to 10,000 students and 2,000 staff at a time. While Gambang campus, located 30km away from Kuantan town, can accommodate up to 5,000 students.
Since its establishment, the university has make remarkable achievement in national and international level. Strategically planned to become a distinguished technological university, UMP intensify its efforts to communitising technology for the benefit of mankind.
UMP is celebrating its 15th anniversary on 16th February 2017. Various activities have been planned for the celebration of UMP 15th anniversary. Among the activities planned are “Sayang UMP” Campaign. This campaign will be launched as part of university’s efforts to inculcate the spirit of togetherness and a love for the university.
Despite all the remarkable achievement, with education and research being the university’s main focus, UMP did not forget to help those in need. UMP also pay serious attention to welfare and social development through the establishment of MyGift.
MyGift is an effort to raise funds for education sponsorship and enhancing the current quality of education in UMP. It will pave the way for a brighter future for undergraduates. With MyGift UMP, it can give positive input for the future of UMP, in providing the necessary infrastructure facilities to undergraduates
To inculcate the culture of performing waqf, UMP encourage its community to contribute for the development of UMP Pekan Mosque and Mawaddah Residential College. Mawaddah Residential College is a college established to provide shelter to orphans or asnaf students in UMP. It will be develop on a land of 2.0 acres in Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Kuala Pahang, Pekan, with the cost of RM5 million.
