Last year, I had the privilege to go to Italy on an exchange program. What I discovered is that Italy is also a great place to pursue tertiary education. Here is why. You can find some of the world’s oldest universities, most famous inventors and most iconic architecture in Italy, making it just the place for ambitious students to get inspired. Italy has also been integral to the development of standardised university education across Europe through the Bologna process, which is testament to the country’s pride in its higher education.Higher education degrees at universities and AFAM institutions are recognized in three cycles. The first cycle is similar to an undergraduate degree. Students complete this cycle in 3 years. The second cycle is similar to a graduate or master’s degree. Students complete this cycle in 2 years. The third cycle is similar to a postgraduate, PhD, or research based degree. Completion of this degree depends on what programme you are in.There are also courses available for those looking to get a specialised degree, which usually take six months to one year to complete. These specialised courses also vary depending on what you are studying.
