I just finish my matriculation at Penang. For your answers:
-
I get my matriculation offer from the internet. Whoever get matriculation offer will never get form6. I guess maybe they don’t want any pertindihan students. I put my address from urban area and I’ve never heard about rural area things. Some students in the matriculation have excellent results. But there are also students who have not-so-good result. It all base on the luck I guess. But if you got Additional Mathematics lower than C, you will enter 2 years programme. It’s still the same with 1 year programme, just extent it to 2 years.
-
For allowance, matriculation students get RM250 per month. But based on what I’d heard for next intake students, there will be no allowance.
-
Usually we can go out during weekends and use public transport to go to the town.
-
Yes, we’re allowed to bring handphones to college and some students bring their own laptops to do works. But laptops are not a necessary things to bring because only some times we have to do coursework with laptops.
That’s all from me. I hope that I can help to answer your questions. Have a nice day

Hi, I have some doubts on matriks…
-
Does we guarantee the course and uni that we want if I scored 4.0 in matriks? Or is it by luck?
( I aim UM, USM and UKM only)
-
Can we opt for private uni, (eg: Monash Malaysia) if we cant get course that we want in public uni? Do u encounter studnets like tis? DO they suceed?
-
May I know that do matrikulasi have its own scholarship to sponsor students oversea? Is it difficult to get? How about the requirements?
-
May I ask how much tat I nid to pay back if i stop matriks halfway and go a levels?
Hope I can get answer from u. Thanks
@chinteckming the syllabus is in English not malay
For those who appealed and get into kolej Matrikulasi together with second intake, will they be sitting examination together with the first intake? Will they finish the programme together with the first intake?

Hi may I know if they pick students by referring to our family background? Like if my parents’ are divorced and only one of them has monthly income, do I have higher chances in getting matrics?
Also, which are the top 5 campuses that have the best facilities?

Hi @khoo
- for matrics penang there were 4 people per room. 4 beds at each corner of the room. Normally all the matrics are the same. 3 Muslim and 1 non Muslim
- hahaha that depends. People will tend to become friendly after a few weeks.
- in all the matrics there will be a few toilets and bathroom at end of each floor
- in my matrics it’s a bit particular where the girls must wear baju kurung or punjabi suit and guys must wear long sleeve and tie. But I heard that Selangor matrics u can wear pants and blouse and the rules aren’t that strict
- for me I guess I wish the new and correct way to study as it’s not the same studying style as in school. I would advice you to have a good group of frens as I see that many people get influenced once they leave house and mixed with the wrong group frens and ended up getting bad grades.
- in my penang matrics there was wifi at the campus but there was no wifi in the dormitory. But the wifi strength was very poor.
Good luck for your matrics it will a be a bitter sweet memory. But it’s one of the best memory I have.
I am finishing up in matriks kedah. Feel free to ask me anything especially if u got selected to kedah.
